How long does it take to receive a temporary permit?
On average, it takes less than two weeks for a temporary permit to be issued once an application is received.
The temporary permit application asks for a project address. The project I am working on does not yet have a physical address. What should I provide on the application?
If the United States Postal Service has not assigned a physical address to your project, a specific location identifier will need to be supplied to the Board. An example of a specific location identifier would be the latitude and longitude coordinates or a unique Parcel ID assigned by the county assessor.
How long does my temporary permit last?
For architects, the permit applies to one specific project for a period of two years. For professional engineers, the permit applies to one specific project for a period of one year.
If my project is not completed within the time period allowed, can I get another temporary permit?
Once a temporary permit expires, the individual will need to apply for a Nebraska license to continue practicing or offering to practice in Nebraska.
Multiple temporary permits are not allowed.
I obtained a temporary permit five years ago for Project A, can I obtain a second temporary permit for Project B?
Once a temporary permit expires, the individual will need to apply for a Nebraska license to continue practicing or offering to practice in Nebraska.

Is a Certificate of Authorization required if a temporary permit has been issued?
Not necessarily. If a temporary permit holder is practicing through an organization, that organization must have a Certificate of Authorization. If the temporary permit holder is not practicing through an organization, a Certificate of Authorization is not required.
An organization is defined as a business entity created by law, including, but not limited to, a partnership, limited liability company, corporation or joint venture.
