Job Description
The Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects' mission is to establish requirements for education, experience, examination, and enforcement for the practices of engineering and architecture to safeguard life, health, and property, and to promote public welfare. The Compliance Assistant assists in the enforcement segment of the mission. Under general supervision, provides varied administrative support for the Compliance Officer and the Board in the processing, coordinating, tracking, and monitoring of the compliance mission of the Board of Engineers and Architects.
The position assists in the day-to-day compliance operations and complaint processes, including receiving, reviewing, and preparing correspondence; reviewing the information provided by licensees regarding continuing education audits; monitoring restricted license actions; maintaining the board's compliance procedures and reports; receiving and evaluating information from other state agencies concerning projects in Nebraska to determine conformance with the Nebraska Engineers and Architects Regulation Act and Board rules; recording, drafting, and disseminating information regarding compliance to the Compliance Officer, Executive Director, and the board as requested; drafting and preparing status reports; preparing complaint summaries for publication and distribution.
The individual needs to be able to interpret the board's policies, procedures, and processes pertinent to the board's investigation functions to the board, board staff, state, and local officials, licensed architects and professional engineers, industry stakeholders, and the public to answer inquiries and to facilitate the proper application of the directives and processes for the board.
The position also serves as the backup to other staff in conducting the licensing and approval processes. Other administrative tasks may be assigned as needed.
SALARY: $17.498-$25.794 hourly – Pay rate may be commensurate with education and experience if fiduciarily approved.
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/training or experience related to research, presentation, or publication in an area related to the programs or functions of the board; business administration; accounting; customer service; and/or technical support work, including use of computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Other: Valid driver's license
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of: the board's administrative policies and guidelines; administrative and office processes and procedures and associated computer applications such as word processing, file management, record keeping, and database management; customer services processes and principles; specialized processes and terminology associated with the assigned work.
Skill in: active listening; asking questions, understanding questions; using word processing, creating spreadsheets, charts, graphs, and reports; managing time, schedules, and priorities; monitoring and assessing program performance; applying critical thinking techniques.
Ability to: formulate and recommend alternative courses of action; communicate and exchange information and ideas with others; interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulations; create charts, graphs, and/or reports using word processing or other computer applications; summarize technical data and results of research into reports; track and monitor information; retrieve information from a variety of sources; coordinate resources and people; maintain confidential records.
